Global Compact (UN)

The Global Compact is a joint initiative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), and the World Labour Organisation (WLO), addressed at enabling corporate social responsibility development, fostering human rights, labour standards, environmental protection and anti-corruption. The main goal of the Global Compact is to help align corporate policies and practices to universally concurred and internationally applicable ethical goals.

By means of business voluntary commitment, the Global Compact promotes a new corporate culture on how to manage businesses. And its real essence is to create an ever-growing labour network supporting companies through learning and sharing knowledge, to exercise leadership as a corporate citizen and hence exert influence in others through their behaviour.

As it reports to the Instituto de Estudios para la Sustentabilidad Corporativa –IESC- [Center for Study of Corporate Sustainability], the Centro de Estudios en Hotelería Sustentable [Center for Study of Sustainable Hotels] adheres to the principles of the Global Compact.
