Dr. Stefan Gössling
He is a professor at the School of Business and Economics at Linnaeus University, Kalmar, and the Department of Service Management, Lund University, both Sweden. He is also the research coordinator of the Research Centre for Sustainable Tourism at the Western Norway Research Institute. Stefan has worked with climate change since 1992, focusing primarily on aviation, transport, mobilities, energy, mitigation, and sustainable tourism more generally. He has also worked extensively in islands, particularly in the Western Indian Ocean and the Caribbean.
Stefan is on the editorial board of five scientific journals, including two of the highest ranked tourism journals, Tourism Management and Journal of Sustainable Tourism. He has published more than 60 articles in peer-reviewed journals as well as nine edited and own books, including “Tourism and Development in Tropical Islands: Political Ecology Perspectives (Edward Elgar 2003)”, “Tourism and Global Environmental Change” (Routledge 2006, with C. Michael Hall)”, “New Frontiers in Marine Tourism (Elsevier 2007, with Brian Garrod)”, “Climate Change and Aviation” (Earthscan 2009, with Paul Upham), “Carbon Management in Tourism” (Routledge 2010), Tourism and Climate Change (Routledge 2012, with Daniel Scott and C.M. Hall), and “Sustainable Culinary Systems” (Routledge 2013, with C.M. Hall).
Arnfinn Oines works as Social & Environmental Conscience for Soneva Resorts. He is overlooking the responsible business practices at Soneva, which have received numerous environmental awards including the prestigious World Travel & Tourism Council’s Tourism for Tomorrow Award 2008.
Arnfinn has been involved in implementing and establishing the Soneva Carbon Calculator, the group’s Social & Environmental PnPs and Sustainability Report. He is also Secretary for SLOW LIFE Foundation in which he is managing several large project including Soneva Clean Water Projects, Soneva Forest Restoration Project, Darfur Stoves Project and Myanmar Stoves Campaign. He is also involved in arranging the SLOW LIFE Symposium.
He joined Soneva in 2005 and set up an Environmental Management System, which led Evason Phuket to become the first resort in South East Asia to become Earth Check Certified. Arnfinn was also heavily involved in the development Earth Check’s Sector Benchmark Indicators for Spa Operations, world’s first ecolabel for spas.
Arnfinn co-founded and opened Earthwalkers Hotel in Siem Reap, Cambodia as General Manager. He also worked as Course Director for International Tourism Institute in Andalusia, Spain. He has worked several years as a free-lance journalist in Norway. Arnfinn holds a BA in Adventure Tourism Management and MBA in Hospitality & Tourism.
Graduate in Tourism (Universidad Nacional de Misiones, Argentina). Post Graduate in Sustainable Tourism Management, Post Graduate in Administration Projects (Universidad para la Cooperación Internacional – UCI – San José de Costa Rica) and Expert in Local Development (Delnet – Organización Internacional del Trabajo. –OIT).
She is Expert in Sustainable Tourism and Social Responsibility Business, accomplishing in that field in Latin America, more specifically in Costa Rica, Argentina and Paraguay. President from North to South in Consultants, company dedicated to advice Sustainable Tourism and Social Responsibility Business in Latin America.
As Academic, she has been the headmistress in Master in Management of Sustainable Tourism, teacher in others courses, director and thesis reader in the Universities for the International Cooperation, the National and the Distance State University all of them from Costa Rica.
As speaker on Sustainable Tourism and Social Responsibility Business, she has been invited to participate on different events taken place in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Nicaragua, Paraguay and Costa Rica.
She is the author of many anthologies, studies of cases for the application to the courses she gives in the universities mentioned on the previous paragraphs, such as the investigations dedicated to Sustainable Tourism and Social Responsibility Business.
As a personal adviser she is working in Argentina and Paraguay coordinating and advising projects financed by international organisations like AECID, BID and with national organisation such as the Plan of Jesuit Missions of the Government of the Province of Misiones, The Ecology Department of the Province of Misiones, with the SENATUR and REDIEX of Paraguay among others. In addition, she goes on being teacher, headmistress and reader of thesis in the Universities mentioned before and Rector of the Technological Institute of Iguazú of the Province of Misiones.
Miguel Angel Gardetti
He earned his Ph.D. in sustainability with the highest grades and honours in the USA. He is the Founder and Head of the Instituto de Estudios para la Sustentabilidad Corporativa [Center for Study of Corporate Sustainability], one of the Latin American benchmark organisations in this field. He played a leading role in the foundation and development of the Centro de Estudios en la Hotelería Sustentable [Center for Study of Sustainable Hotels], and, thus, he is part of the Advisory Board of such Center. He developed a great number of international publications, and he has recently co-edited the book titled “Sustainability in Hospitality: how innovative hotels are transforming the industry.”
